How Do You Rebuild A Global Address List?

0

The Global Address List (GAL) consists of all the contacts in your organization or company. It includes details like email address, company alias, designation, department, phone number etc. When you make changes to an account using your email client like Webmail or Outlook, these changes do not record automatically in the GAL. The process of manually updating the list is called ‘rebuilding.’ Please note that you will need administrative rights to ‘rebuild’ GAL. Click on Start and select “All Programs.” Click on “Microsoft Exchange server.” Select “Exchange Management Shell.” This will open a new window with a command prompt. As mentioned earlier, you will need administrative rights to access this tool. Contact your technology division or Internet service provider if you don’t find this program on your computer. Type “get-offlineaddressbook | update-offlineaddressbook” without the quotes. Hit the “Enter” key. Wait patiently as Exchange server ‘rebuilds’ your Global Address List. Dependi
