How Do You Remove The Steering Knuckles From A Jeep Wrangler?
Removing the steering knuckles from a Jeep Wrangler can be an involved project, because there are a number of parts that must come off before the knuckle can be removed. The process is not difficult, but you will need special tools to separate the hub assemblies and ball joints to get the knuckles off the Jeep. You should have a ball joint separator, hub puller and a tie rod separator to do the job correctly. These tools will also allow for quicker removal. Step 1 Place a floor jack under the front differential of the Jeep, and lift it high enough to get the wheels off the ground. Place a solid set of jack stands under the frame rails to support the Jeep. Step 2 Remove the lug nuts, using a lug wrench, and remove the front tires from the Jeep. Set the lug nuts somewhere safe so you don’t lose them. Step 3 Remove the cotter pin and dust cover from the drive nut on the end of the axle.
