Get a spray bottle and fill it with cool, clean water. Spray the stain with water. Blot the stain with a clean paper towel. Sprinkle borax onto the wet stain generously so that the entire stain is covered. Work the borax into the stain using a clean cloth or brush. Let the borax air dry for a few hours. Vacuum the spot after it has fully dried. Use a small, hand-held vacuum with good suction on furniture and mattresses. If removing stains on a carpet, use a regular carpet vacuum.
