If you need to remove white paint from a wood ceiling, a few techniques will remove the blemishes without causing damage to the surface you are working on. Remove any furniture or clutter that may interfere with your ability to access the ceiling. Spread plastic drop cloths to catch any dried paint that may fall during the removal process. Apply furniture polish to the paint on the wood ceiling to help loosen it. Use a coarse brush to scrub at the paint. Scrub in a circular motion, moving counter-clockwise. Apply furniture polish to the paint. Scrape at the paint using the plastic putty knife. Continue scraping until all of the paint has been removed.
