Replacing metal frame windows can save money on energy bills, eliminate broken existing windows and improve the appearance of a room or home exterior. Replacing metal frame windows is generally an easy task and new windows can last for decades if installed properly. Replacement metal windows typically are installed using the existing window frame. Remove the sliding window from the frame. Partially open the window, then lift and pull out. Loosen screws on any sliders with a screwdriver that are preventing the window from sliding out. It may also be necessary to remove a small piece of rubber acting as a wedge to easily remove the sliding window. Remove the screen window in the same manner. The screen window should come out easily. Remove the fixed window. Unscrew and remove any screws holding the fixed window in place.
