I am writing this article to explain how to remove and replace an alternator on a dodge caravan. Open the hood of the Caravan. Remove the negative (-) terminal, black (not red), from the battery. Find the alternator, located on the left side of the engine near the front top. You first need to remove the wires from the back of the alternator. There should be a black wire and a red wire connected under a nut. Next, you’ll need to loosen the adjustment bracket bolts. These bolts are located on the lower front side of the alternator. You now need to loosen the Pivot Bolt. This is the Long bolt holding the alternator in. Once you have this loose, the alternator should be able to rotate. Remove the alternator belt. After you have the belt off, remove the pivot bolt and nut. Now that you have all of the bolts off of the alternator, you have to wiggle the alternator up and down until it comes out. The area of the pivot bolt may be real tight, and so you may have to pull rather hard to get it t
