If your shower or tub is not correctly caulked and sealed, you may have water leaks at these exposed seams. It’s easy to seal these leaks with waterproof caulk, thereby fixing the problem and preventing further water damage. Read on to learn more. Dry out your shower or tub completely. Do not use for at least 2 days. You’ll need to use a different bath for these 2 days. Clean the tub and shower surfaces thoroughly, removing any hair, mold or shower scum near the seam(s) you will be sealing. Cut the caulk applicator opening on a 45-degree angle to get the best angle for caulking. Squeeze the caulk evenly into the faulty seam(s). Remove the excess caulk with your finger while also smoothing the caulk surface. Let the caulk dry for 12 hours. Apply a second coat and re-smooth it. Wait another 12 hours before using this shower or tub.
