Paintball guns are inaccurate and short-ranged weapons. One way to put a lot of balls on the target is to keep your position a secret for a few, precious extra seconds. The tool for that job is a silencer, and an easy silencer to make is to adapt the soda bottle silencer. These can muffle the shot of a .22, and can easily handle the pop of a paintball gun. Choose what size soda bottle you want to use. A big bottle is bulky and not very handy, but offers more muffling. Clean the inside of the bottle, and remove the label from the outside. Cut a notch into the neck of the bottle with a pocket knife so that it will fit over the muzzle of the air gun. Cut out the bottle bottom. Take some old blankets and cut them into strips. These should be an inch or two shorter than the length of the body of the bottle. Staple the blanket strips to the inside of the bottle. Layer and stack the strips as you go.
