Take a cutting from the plant you want to propagate. Choose a section of plant at least eight inches long. To propogate woody plants such as roses, choose a section that is still green and not woody. With sharp garden sheers, snip off the cutting as close to the main stem of the plant as possible. Trim all the leaves from the bottom two-thirds of your cutting and remove any blossoms or buds.
