0

The DVD drive in the Xbox 360 has many moving parts and sometimes the vibrations can shake something lose that can cause the drive to stop working. Having the DVD drive looked at by Microsoft or an authorized dealer takes time and could cost a lot of money. Taking the DVD drive apart to check for problems can be done safely in less than an hour and could enable you to get the drive to start working again. Place the DVD drive on a clean, soft cloth with the warranty sticker side facing up. Pull the warranty sticker off of the DVD drive to expose the screws. Remove the four screws on each side of the DVD drive with the T6 Allen wrench. Put the screws aside in the dish. Turn the DVD drive over so that the flat side is down. Carefully pull up on the hard drive top to separate it from the bottom flat side without damaging the latching mechanism. Put the top half aside. Take the T10 Allen wrench and remove the four screws holding the exposed heat guard down. Put the screws aside in the dish.
