How do you think people of the Renaissance Era viewed their art.?

Look at the art before then versus the art that manifested at the time. Renaissance Art was an explosive celebration. For the first time, humans began to see themselves closer to God because of their discoveries in science, math, and art. You look at a medieval tapestry and compare it with a painting by one of the great artists of the time. You’ll see the difference. I think that the significance of the period is lost because it has reached an iconic level in today’s mind. We forget how different the art world was before the Renaissance movement. At the time it was viewed as revolutionary, today it’s viewed as a classic time period (not THE classic time period… that’s different 😉 Remember too that the reason why it was such a success was because the rulers allowed it. Out of fear or acceptance, the masses followed those in charge.
