How do you throw a Frisbee so that it doesn curve at the end of its flight?
A frisbee is, essentially, a wing, like an airplane wing. If you bank it to one side or the other, it will “lift” in that direction, i.e. curve. So the first thing to learn to do is to throw flat. That’s a lot harder than it sounds, because you don’t have a good angle to see it from. It’ll look flat, but it isn’t. And when you’ve got it right, it won’t look right. The other problem is that you can’t really see the angle at which you’re releasing it, because your arm is moving. The angle you’re holding it at when you get set is not the angle of release, and that’s the only one that counts. So you’re just going to have to learn by feel. It’s all in the wrist. Get out and play with somebody. If plain old catch is boring, find a Frisbee golf course or (even better) a pickup Frisbee Ultimate game. For most novice throwers, the secret is to tip it down a bit more when you start. It’s very counterintuitive, which is why you didn’t discover it on your own. You were probably trying NOT to do it
