How Do You Use A Castor Oil Pack?
Although castor oil has been around for thousands of years, the popularity of using it in packs began in the mid-1900s after Edgar Cayce, “The Sleeping Prophet,” recommended them for healing medical conditions. While medical researchers disagree as to why they help, evidence exists that they may offer some benefit for certain ailments. Purchase a piece of wool flannel at least 12 by 12 inches. Colored flannel may stain your skin so use a white piece of cotton flannel if you can’t find undyed wool flannel. Saturate the flannel piece with castor oil and wring the excess out. Fold it to a size that corresponds with the area you want to treat and place it directly on your skin. Cover it with a piece of plastic wrap and apply the heating pad. If the heat is uncomfortable, put a thin towel between the heating pad and the castor oil pack. Leave the heat on for one to two hours, before removing and washing the oil from your skin.
