How does a wave pool work? Where do the waves come from?

A wave pool works by either moving the water in the pool or introducing more water. In small wave pools there are mechanisms in the end that ‘pushes’ the water in an accordion-like manner. Others use a paddle, and some use pressurized air. In the larger ones, the far end of the pool introduces a large amount of water into the pool. The water then tries to even out, creating a wave. At the other end there are usual vents to suck in the excess water and bring it back to the far end.
