How Does Ankle Liposuction Aftercare Work?
After ankle liposuction, there will be some leakage of bloodstained, surplus saline through the stab incisions and these dressings may need to be changed before leaving the clinic. As you stand up for the first time there can be a burning sensation, but this soon passes and patients are asked to avoid standing immediately after surgery, but are encouraged to either walk or sit with feet elevated on a stool for the first 24 hours. The first dressing is carried out a week after ankle liposuction surgery when the skin will appear bruised. Bruising as a result of ankle fat removal takes much longer to settle than in other areas treated by liposuction. Most will have settled within three weeks but there can be grey areas, which can persist for some months. Patients who suffer from extra swollen ankles at the end of the day will need to wear support on the ankles for longer. This can be either the double tubi-grip or fitted below knee stockings.
