How does CA-Gener/OL deal with small fragmented storage?
CA-Gener/OL uses control pages to handle small fragmented storage. Fragmentation is reduced by creating CA-Gener/OL Control Pages for small storage areas determined by a field in the GSA (default is 256K). When a getmain area is less than or equal to this size CA-Gener/OL places it into a Control Page, control pages are chained off the GSA. The Control Page starts with a x’06’ in the first byte. Control Pages contain the forward and backward addresses of the next Control Page and the prior control page. They also contain the forward and backward addresses of the free areas within the page.
