How does it compare to dial-up?
• Very favourably. In terms of downloading, a useful guide with dial-up vs. broadband is “for minutes read seconds”. For instance, downloading a music track (4 MB MP3 file) will take around 10 minutes on dial-up but under 5 seconds with Bulldog up to 8 meg broadband. Try downloading a movie on dial-up its virtually impossible and highly impractical. It could take around 27 hours (based on a 700 MB movie file), but with 8 meg Bulldog broadband, youre looking at around 13 minutes. Even for simple emails, theres little comparison. For instance, emailing a photo attachment (of 1 MB) will take nearly 4 minutes with dial-up; but 10 seconds with Bulldog broadband. • Of course, broadband is an instantly available service unlike dial-up where it can take you a minute just to connect (maybe another to reconnect, and so on).
