How does Kofax do TIFF fill order or itsex or it ordering ?

Fill order in a TIFF header relates to the ordering of the bits in the byte. This has also been called “bitsex” or “bit ordering”. Available choices are type 1 which is MSB to LSB (most significant bit (bit 7) to least significant bit (bit 0)) and type 2 which is the reverse or LSB to MSB. bit 7 bit 0 Six years ago when the first KIPP Developers Toolkit was released, the consensus was that fill order 2 was in keeping with the CCITT view of bit order. So we made that the default fill order in our storage filters. Of course, a customer could always use fill order 1 if they chose. This is still our philosophy with the KIPP Toolkits. Over time the more popular fill order has evolved to be fill order 1 for TIFF headers. The TIFF spec now recommends fill order 1 and some viewers have not been designed to accept fill order 2. Kofax has always strived for full compatibility with the TIFF specification. Consequently, the KIPP ImageControls versions after v.1.01 use fill order 1 as the default.
