How does neem oil work?
Neem oil can be used to control bugs that attack many plants, including insects and mites, as well as fungal and virus attacks. It also has an effect on mosquito breeding and control of infestations. Neem has also been used safely with humans and animals, and appears to have a minimal/low toxicity issue with people, meaning that crops might be safely treated, some time before consumption. As oils dissipate quite quickly, there is a minimal residue left over, though this does mean that repeat treatments may be needed. Usually the seeds of the Neem tree are used as a source of the oil, and some extracts of these have also been used as insecticides in their own right, such as a product called Trilogy. Neem is still being studied, and its full mode of attack is uncertain, which is why future extracts may also be made, once it is understood which constituents are the active compounds involved in safe protection for plants. It also seems that Neem oil is similar to many sucking insects own h
