How does one get rid of the musty smell in clothes?

If all your clothes smell musty all the time, you might have a moisture problem in your house. The musty smell indicates the presence of mold. Mold smells bad way before you can actually see it and it grows pretty fast and it only grows in the presence of high levels of humidity. Get an inexpensive hygrometer and check the RH levels, anything above 60% will create conditions for the mold to grow. Look around the house for sources of moisture that can be affecting your house, like plumbing, roof or siding leaks, moldy basements or crawl space, etc. If you can’t find any, you will probably live in a high humidity region so just need to run a dehumidifier on a regular basis. Now if it is just a one time deal, and just a few pieces of clothing go with the vodka. Believe it or not, it kills mold and the smells and after it dries there is no leftover “booze” smell at all.
