How does overpopulation of the human species affects biodiversity?
There are two root causes of human activity that lead to the extinction of species. One is overpopulation, there are two many people. The other one is the rating of per capita consumption. Overpopulation will begin to diminish by the end of this century, when humanity, according to best estimates, will reach approximately 9 billion beings, 40 percent more that what we have today. We can manage that number, but we have to be very careful and take the whole world through with us until we pass the peak. We also have to be very careful about consumption, we need to develop new technology worldwide to increase the quality of life but reducing consumption. In other words, sustainable development should be our main goal. Are we on time to save biodiversity? We can by being much more careful about how we manage the planet and with lots of more knowledge.
