How Does Parenthetical Documentation Work?
Think of parenthetical documentation as a series of little finger pointers: these little pointers direct the reader to specific bibliographic entries in your list of works cited page. You can also think about them like little road signs that tell your reader where to look to find the original information. Perhaps the best way to see how they work is by example. Here is a paragraph that I lifted from a research paper about George Orwells book titled 1984. Please note that your list of works cited should always appear on a separate page.
