Liana – the poster below is accurate. HOWEVER (and many people don’t know this) you can chose your own REALTOR, they just have to negotiate the arrangement with the relo company. I have worked with many such people who have reported to me that the agents they were “assigned” (usually with no choice in the matter) were terrible. After all, think about how little they are making… let’s say the commission the sellers agent will make is 5 chickens (we’re not allowed to talk about commissions in real terms). The broker is paying a fee to belong to the relo network – the fee varies dramatically, but I promise you it is not earned, it is paid for. Then it breaks down like this… “normal split” for an agent and the broker is 50/50 – the agent gets more if they do a significant amount of business, but generally, this is where it is. So, that would normally be 2.5 chickens. However, because it is a relo company, the agent may get only 50-75% of their normal split…. so now get as little as 1
