How does Residential Life find a room assignment for two students when there is a roommate request listed and the students have marked preferences for completely different areas?
The most helpful thing two students who want to live together or near each other can do is discuss what they will mark as preferences before entering them into their applications. If we find that the requests from two students wanting to live together or near each other do not match, we will first consider the preferences of the student whose application was submitted first.
