How does Shat-R-Shields coating effect UV?
Shat-R-Shields standard coating on fluorescent lamps blocks ultraviolet emissions up to 390 nanometers (over 95% of the UV spectrum). Ultraviolet (UV) causes fading in fabric, degradation of paper, loss of vitamins and riboflavin, and adds to discoloration of food products. It can also be a problem for people suffering from a wide variety of illnesses because they are photosensitive. For instance, as many as 60% of lupus patients are photosensitive and are adversely effected by exposure to UV.
