How does the 3005 system handle wide connectors larger than the field of view?

Sections are overlayed to provide complete panoramic view of Connector. With a field of view of 1560 microns, the 3005 is able to map the region of interest for a MiniMT ferrule in a single scan. For larger surfaces, such as MT ferrules, the system uses our exclusive Multiple Image Overlay Software, which scans the connector in sections, automatically moving between scans to the next section. After all the sections have been analyzed, the multiple images are carefully aligned and overlayed into a complete panoramic view of the connector. The optics have been optimized for measuring the detailed information needed on the individual fibers, as well as obtaining the broad view of the entire region of interest to get the angular information. This is one of the many reasons why our system offers the best accuracy and repeatability for both fiber heights and angle of polish.
