How does the Championship Bracket work?
The Championship Bracket format has been changed from previous years. The Top 16 seeded teams will begin competing in Winners Bracket Round 1 on Friday. Teams that lose in the first or second round of the Championship Bracket’s Winners Bracket will then play one or two Placement rounds, which are used to determine where they will fall into the Losers Bracket. Teams cannot be eliminated from an Event by losing a Placement Round Match. Teams that lose in Placement Round 2 will start in Losers Round 5 of the Championship Bracket. Teams that win in Placement Round 2 will start in Losers Round 6 of the Championship Bracket. All teams advancing from the Open Bracket will be placed into the Championship Bracket’s Losers Bracket based on their performance in the Open Bracket. Teams that did not lose a Match in the Open Bracket will play in Placement Round 3 against Teams that lost in Placement Round 1.
