How does the Extrajudicial Sanctions Program work?

If you have been alleged in the commission of an offence (such as shoplifting) and charged by Police Services you will be given a Notice to Appear. You will attend Court on the date indicated on the Notice to Appear and the Crown Attorney may make a recommendation for you to participate in the Extrajudicial Sanctions program. Following you Court Appearance you will meet with the Youth coordinator and fill out the Extrajudicial Sanctions Application form which will be returned to the Crown’s office for processing. You will then be required to make contact with St. Leonard’s Community Services to schedulean interview appointment.
