How does the heart move red blood cells around the body?
The right atrium collects deoxygenated blood cells in the blood from the body in the systemic circuit, and pumps it into the right ventricle where it passed into the pulmonary artery in the pulmonary circuit. The red blood cells then becomes oxygenated. The bloody containing the oxygenated red blood cells is then pumped through the pulmonary vein, into the left atrium of the heart. It is then pumped into the left ventricle. The heart then pumps the blood containing the red blood cells at very high pressure through the arteries around the body. When the red blood cells have become deoxygenated and given up all their oxygen, it then goes through the veins and back to the heart where this cycle is repeated.
