How does the Scrin Motherships weapon work?
The Scrin Mothership’s “Catalyst Cannon” weapon destroys units and structures immediately beneath it. In exploding, those units and structures will “tag” nearby units and structures for a delayed effect that will happen after a few seconds. When that delayed effect occurs, if any of the units are destroyed, their explosion will similarly “tag” any other nearby units or structures for a similar delayed explosion effect. The power of the explosive effect is diminished with each “tag”. Firing the Catalyst Cannon in the middle of a large group of units will likely destroy everything on the screen. The Mothership’s weapon is affected by the Mothership’s health. As the Mothership takes damage, pieces of it will break off; each time one of the supporting firing beams is lost, the weapon’s damage and area of effect is diminished.
