How does the status of women in India and Pakistan compare?
In 1947, in Pakistan there was less urbanisation unlike India which got many urban centres. Pakistan remained largely tribal and extremely feudal. You have to understand that there have been no real land reforms in Pakistan. So, while women in Pakistan in the urban centers today are like their counterparts in India, most of them are working and educated. However, in rural areas this development is missing and women are often not educated and the question of working does not arise. Our political instability is also responsible for this.
