How does the university degree grading system work?

Yeah, each university will have a slightly different formula, and they don’t go into much detail about them. Basically, they can either add up all of your grades in year 2 and 3, or take the average mark for your grades. The third year is often weighted more heavily so that a third year module mark of 50 is more beneficial than a second year module mark of 65. I attempted to work out how I got my classification (a 2:1), but the algorithm used by the university was too complicated so I gave up!
