How does water temperature affect the color of fish?
Stress is probably the single biggest factor in the color of fish, and by stress I mean are its needs met completely and properly. Is the Ph, Nitrites, Nitrates, Phosphates, Hardness, Temperature all correct. Are there enough holes to hide in if there is a fight. If not then your fishes colour will change. The foods that affect colour are not always the best bet. I have seen artificially enhanced fish blown out of the water by fish that have been fed a variety of high quality foods, none of which are in the colour enhancing category. Live food is always fun to watch your fish eat. I tend to spend a few minutes every other day just watching my fish to see what they are doing and if they are eating properly. If they aren’t I know something isn’t right, or they;ve bred. I then fix the problem and they are happy, which makes me happy.
