How does Zinc alloy #3 compare with alloy #5?
The two alloys are very similar and are often interchanged. Thus, exactly the same parts, such as car door handles, may be made with #5 alloys in Germany and #3 alloys in UK. Alloy #3 has slightly better ductility than #5, which is useful for components that have to be riveted or swaged. Alloy #5 has slightly better tensile and creep properties, so may perform better when stresses are high.
