How else is the District incorporating energy efficient and environmentally friendly elements into the project?
The School Board is very committed to incorporating green strategies into the Jefferson High School project. A few of the major elements to maximize energy efficiency include using high efficiency HVAC equipment, zoning controls, motors, variable frequency fans and pump drives, and a Building Automation System with occupancy sensors for lighting. The structure itself will incorporate a high performance building envelope, high performance glass and some fully operational windows, and maximize natural light. Materials will be required to contain recycled content and high efficiency filters will improve indoor air quality. Many environmentally friendly efforts will also be utilized during construction and on the high school site itself. A construction waste management plan that includes pollution prevention activities will be in place right from the start. One of the Districts priorities is to protect natural habitat and wetlands during the site development, and to incorporate native plan
