How extensively has the NORPLANT SYSTEM been researched and tested?
The NORPLANT SYSTEM has undergone many years of research and testing. More than 55,000 women in 44 countries used the NORPLANT SYSTEM in clinical trials and pre-introduction evaluations. These include 1,092 women in U.S. clinical trials at three locations. By the end of 1990, an additional 500,000 women used this method in the 17 countries where the NORPLANT SYSTEM is in general use. It has been used in the United States since 1991.
