How far apart are the mainline valves?
A. The mainline valves will be spaced according to the Federal Department of Transportation (DOT) code. The spacing in the code is determined by the population density. In the least populated areas, every point on the line must be within 10 miles of a valve; the second least densely populated areas within 7.5 miles of a valve, the third least populated areas within 4 miles, and the most populated areas within 2.5 miles. The actual spacing is being determined and will be included in the FERC application.
