How fast does the 1967 Pontiac Firebird go?
I had a brand new 67 Firebird 400 3 speed automatic in 1967. It ran an official 14.33 quarter mile at the old Green Valley Race Track in Forth Worth, TX with those sorry bias ply red stripe tires completely stock including the exhaust pipe. As I recall, it had a speedometer that went to 140 mph and I buried the needle once on a wide open Texas highway, but I always doubted that the speedometer was accurate at the top end. The engine was rated at 325 hp and I would guess than it would do somewhere between 120-130 mph. It’s biggest shortcoming was those standard drum brakes. I loved the car and wished I had not gotten rid of it after I got married in 1969.
