How fast is a DSL connection?
Downloads can be as fast as 1.5Mbps. Most pages will appear in a flash, and a large file that used to take many minutes to transfer over a dial-up connection will now only take seconds. The exact speed depends on the distance from your home to the DSLAM [details] or Remote Terminal [details] equipment used by Qwest; the shorter the distance the faster the connection. The quality of a phone line and the wiring in your house will also affect the speed. Speed (communications) is measured in “bits per second”. Storage (data) is measured in “bytes”.
