How has LSI addressed the tin whisker issue?
LSI has been working with the iNEMI Tin-Whisker Test Methods Team since early 2004 to better understand the test conditions and results. As LSI has studied many variables and test conditions, we have found that commercially available low whisker propensity plating solutions for matte tin on copper essentially have the same whisker immunity. The combined effects of low propensity Sn plating baths and a post plate 150/1 hr bake is the mitigation practice.
