How internet helps the development of computer era?

The Internet is desirable. Everybody wants it so that they can access any information they want, watch any video they want, connect with people at any time via chat and/or IM, and basically be more connected. Since most people can’t be bothered to actually learn about computers, that has forced us to make computers that are more n00b-friendly and robust. Since people are impatient, we have to make computers that are fast. Since people are frugal, we have to do so at a price that sells. Twenty years ago, few people would spend thousands of dollars on a box that had a user manual thick enough to double as an ottoman and took almost a minute to execute the simplest of commands. I have a $350 thing that is hundreds of times faster that I can watch movies on, throw in a messenger bag, and connect almost anywhere with. Twenty years ago, I would have killed for such a thing; six months ago, I was unwilling to pay more than $400 for some wonder-box like that.
