How is a CCD imager actually used with the telescope?
CCD imaging requires three basic components: the telescope, the CCD imaging system, and a personal computer (PC). In the simplest format, the CCD head, containing the CCD chip itself, is placed into the telescope’s eyepiece-holder in place of an eyepiece; the object to be imaged is centered and focused on the CCD chip; the image is taken, and the image data are transferred and processed by the PC. The image is immediately displayed on the PC’s monitor.
