how is an mha different from an mba?
The MHA, like the MBA, involves the development of business management and financial knowledge and skills; however, the MHA focuses and applies these skills exclusively to the health care domain. The MHA is a better fit if you are confident that you want to work in the health care delivery industry. The MBA provides opportunities in a wider range of sectors; the MHA tends to open more doors in healthcare. What distinguishes our MHA from MBA programs, even those that concentrate in healthcare, is our strong connection with the medical campus and our 11-month field placement. The School of Public health is located on the medical campus along with the Schools of Medicine and Nursing and Johns Hopkins Hospital. By the time our students graduate, they have had numerous education and informal interactions with clinicians, hospital administrators and medical faculty. Many of our students complete their field placement within Hopkins.
