How is GRANITE different from Pro/TOOLKIT?

0

Pro/TOOLKIT is a development solution for customizing the Pro/ENGINEER environment. Since Pro/TOOLKIT directly links with running Pro/ENGINEER sessions, in order to use a Pro/TOOLKIT-based product, Pro/ENGINEER must be purchased and installed. Pro/TOOLKIT is most useful to Pro/ENGINEER customers and developers creating extensions to Pro/ENGINEER typically through customization of the Pro/ENGINEER interface. Several areas of Pro/ENGINEER, such as drawings, sketches, and Pro/INTRALINK, have Pro/TOOLKIT API but are not within the scope of GRANITE. GRANITE is a small library for inclusion in stand-alone applications. While it provides deeper access to geometry creation than Pro/TOOLKIT, it does not provide direct access to the Pro/ENGINEER application. In fact, other than its native ability to read Pro/ENGINEER files, GRANITE does not assume any knowledge of Pro/ENGINEER.
