How is information about confidentiality provided to young people in a foster care placement and how does the IEA assess this?

Information can be provided to the young person either by the service or the carer. If the carer is providing the information to the young person, the service is required to have processes for supporting the carer to do this correctly and to ensure that service records are maintained to evidence that the information has been provided. Similarly, when consent is required from the young person to share information, this may be facilitated by the carer with support from the service. If the carer is responsible for this task then there will need to be a process for training the carer to provide the correct information and maintain records of completion.
