How is rammed earth different from concrete?
The biggest difference between SIREWALL™ and concrete is that concrete is the same blend all over the world and rammed earth is different in every location. Rammed Earth has variability in mix design, mixing, optimal moisture content, curing, permeability, expansiveness, shrinkage, texture, colour, compressive strength, and compaction factor. SIREWALLS are highly insulated, allowing the thermal mass to be contained and thereby useful in cold or very hot climates. SIREWALLS provide attractive finished surfaces both inside and out, and provide structural ductility. Every time you change a material, you cause environmental damage. Concrete has a heavier environmental footprint, being made from crushed, washed rock that needs to be transported and has much more cement than rammed earth.
