How is RESTORE distinctive from other restorative justice and sexual violence programs?
RESTORE has several unique components. First, it is a formal collaboration of prosecutors, victim advocates, and public health professionals. Other programs are based in a single agency. Second, RESTORE involves much more extensive preparation and access to legal counsel compared to other models. Third, RESTORE involves a supervision process absent in most other programs. Finally, RESTORE uses a Community Accountability and Reintegration Board to directly involve community members to acknowledge the legitimate victimization that has occurred and to assist the responsible person in completing the plan, as well as symbolically welcoming him or her back into the law-abiding community upon successful program completion.
