How is SAP NetWeaver Knowledge Management integrated into the SAP Enterprise Portal?
Technically speaking, the SAP NetWeaver Knowledge Management (KM) services are installed by a separate choice in the installer, but then run on the same server(s) as the SAP Enterprise Portal (EP). KM relies on some services of SAP EP as e.g. the user management. Only the Search and Classification Engine (TREX) should run on a separate server. From a user’s and/or content manager’s perspective, the KM functionalities are accessed through delivered standard iViews, the default search field in the portal header, etc. The user interfaces to KM are highly configurable and can thus be adjusted to almost any desired navigation strategy and/or corporate design.
