SUNY New Paltz currently employs two distance education modalities. They include asynchronous learning (online courses via the Internet) and two-way interactive video . Asynchronous Learning (online courses) There are many names for this type of delivery; some of them include internet courses; web courses; online courses, ALNs, etc. SUNY New Paltz offers a variety of courses using this innovative delivery approach. In an online course the instructor and students communicate with each other through a computer and the Internet. Using a computer, students receive course materials, compose and submit assignments, ask questions of the instructor, interact with other students in the class, discuss issues and actively participate in class activities from home, office, or the nearest campus computer lab.
