How is the environmental dimension integrated in the EFF?
The EFF contributes to the environmental dimension of sustainable fisheries in several ways. Firstly, aid which will increase fishing pressure is no longer permitted.Instead, the EFF will finance several measures which will protect the marine resources and the environment and halt the degradation of marine ecosystems:The EFF will promote more selective and environmentally-friendly fishing methods.The EFF will support organic aquaculture, incentives fishing farms located in Natura 2000 protected areas and finance measures for the protection of aquatic fauna and flora. It can also address some of the challenges of environmental degradation in fisheries regions.
